Dear Students and Parents:

I hope you are all well and enjoying the last few weeks of summer vacation. I am looking forward to a new and exciting school year and I hope that you all feel the same way and come back to school refreshed, energized and excited. The staff at the high school is working hard to continue to improve our school and produce graduates who are prepared to excel at the next level of life, whether you go to college or enter the workforce.

We have made some changes to our schedule that we feel will better help us provide you with the educational opportunities that you deserve. Please take advantage of the many opportunities that you have to better help you excel academically and enjoy the high school experience.

I am honored to serve as your high school principal and I am committed to making Rondout Valley High School the gold standard in Ulster County. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you very much!

Teachers and administrators will take time to go over the handbook to ensure all students understand our expectations. Parents, please take time to review the handbook with your child in order to help us create a safe, fun school environment as well as one that is focused on student learning. There are several pages in the book that require parent/guardian signatures.

Athletics: Athletic schedules are accessible on-line at You can also reach the schedules by going to the district website and clicking on the athletics icon.

School to Home Partnership: While the members of the R.V.H.S. staff are focused to provide the best education possible for our students, they cannot do it alone. Parents, you are the first and most important teachers your child will ever have. It is a tremendous responsibility, but as a team working together, we will be successful. We believe that parents are an essential partner in order for the team to be complete. There are some programs in place (e.g. School Improvement Team (SIT), Athletic Booster, WISE, Parent’s Association, etc.) that could use parent volunteers. Another way you can be of great help to the school is to ensure your child’s regular attendance. We encourage you to visit the school whenever you can. We also encourage your child to participate in all school activities as they promote self-esteem, enhancing the education process.

We look forward to an extremely successful 2014-2015 school year! Rondout Valley High School is a great place to be.  I am excited about the upcoming school year. Most important, I am proud to work with colleagues who are so dedicated to the success of our students. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns. You can also refer to the district web site at for information. Enjoy the last few days of August and we will see you on Wednesday, September 3rd!
