Kari Mack, Director of Library Services at SUNY Ulster, and her colleague Marla Gruner joined our RVHS Parents Association's lunch period / life skill program in our library on April 19th.
They shared their knowledge with Allison Abbruzzi's and Carol Sturm's English classes on the required research skills for college level success. Forty Five students participated.

Teacher review: On April 19th, Ms. Sturm’s 11th grade class worked in the RVHS library with SUNY Ulster college librarians to explore college research skills and databases. After an introduction to the system and a brief survey (see results below) on current student research habits, students were given guest access to UCCC’s library facilities and were able to explore topics of their own choice. Students were amazed by the broad range of vetted scholarly resources available through SUNY Ulster’s system, and received help from SUNY librarians and RVHS staff to navigate databases. The sage advice of the presenters to “make friends with your librarian” will hold true at whatever institution students find themselves in the future!
